About the game

Reelplay is a personalized card game where you play with your own photos. Just like in a timeline game, you try to arrange the photos in the correct chronological order. The result is a unique combination of play, memories, and stories.

Both. You use your own photos, but the goal is to build memories together while playing, telling stories and having fun. After playing, you also have a tangible collection of your best moments.

Very simple:

  1. Place a photo in the place where you think it belongs in the timeline.
  2. Turn the card over and check the date on the back.
  3. Okay? Then the card stays lying there.
  4. Error? Then the card is out of play.

You can play Reelplay in two ways:

Together (cooperatively): Work together to put all the photos in the correct order.

Against each other (competitively): Earn points by placing photos correctly in the timeline.

The full rules of the game can be found on our website. page with game rules.

The rules of the game are simple, making Reelplay suitable for players of all ages. Children, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents can all participate.

The difficulty depends mainly on your photos. Photos that are far apart in time are easier to place. If you choose many photos from the same year or similar moments, it becomes a fun challenge instead.

You can make the game as easy or difficult as you want it to be.

You can play Reelplay in two ways:

Together (cooperatively)

  • Alone or with a group. Use your collective memory to create the perfect timeline together.

Against each other (competitively)

  • From 2 to 6 players. If you have more players, of course you can play in teams.

About creating a Reelplay game

Have you already selected your photos? Then it’s surprisingly quick to arrange.

You can upload photos at once and have them automatically placed on the maps. On average, creating a Reelplay takes about 10 minutes.

No worries. While you work on your Reelplay, your project regularly automatically saved.

If you don't have an account and you accidentally close the project, go to the same device Return to designer.reelplaygame.com. Your project is still stored in your device's memory, so you can continue where you left off.

With an account, your project is stored in your account and you can open it again later.

Yes! In the photo upload screen of your Reelplay project, you can invite family, friends, or colleagues via WhatsApp, Signal, email, etc. to add photos to the same project.

That makes collecting photos faster, more enjoyable, and often leads to surprising memories.

An invitation link remains active for 3 days.

Did someone miss the invitation or has the link expired? Then you can easily create a new link from the photo upload screen and send it again.

This way, everyone can still add photos to your Reelplay.

No, that's not necessary. With ‘Automatic filling’ All photos that you have uploaded but have not yet placed will be automatically distributed across the empty cards.

After that, of course, you can still use the cards. view and customize before you place your order.

No. Our smart editor software automatically extracts the date from the photo (the so-called EXIF data) and places it on the back of the card. Handy, right!

Usually, yes.

Photos taken with a smartphone or digital camera usually contain a date. Sometimes this information is missing, for example when a photo:

  • shared via WhatsApp
  • has been edited
  • is scanned
  • comes from the internet

Therefore, always check the date.

If the date is missing, you will see it in the editor. “Enter text” The date is printed on the back of the card. This is an indication that no date is available yet and that you must fill it in yourself.

If you forgot to enter a date or other text, the card will simply be printed, but the temporary text “Enter text” is not squeezed.

Yes. If a date is missing or incorrect, you can adjust it yourself in the editor.

No problem.

For many older photos, you often still know the year, but not the exact day or month. Therefore, you can adjust the date of a photo yourself.

You can even choose to use only one year. If multiple photos have the same year, then the order in which they appear doesn’t matter and the answer is correct as long as the photos are next to each other in the timeline.

This way, you can also record old family photos, scanned photos, and memories from decades ago in your Reelplay.

Absolutely! With Reelplay, you can do much more than just use your own photos. For example, add Memes, historical events or illustrations add to it and create your own unique timeline game.

You can also QR codes to music, videos or websites add. Choose at ‘Decorations’ For QR code, enter the desired link and the QR code will be generated automatically.

Let your creativity run wild and create a timeline that is completely your own.

About choosing photos

There is one photo on each card. You can choose from:

  • 50 cards
  • 75 cards (recommended)
  • 100 cards

You need about 10 to 15 cards per pot. The more cards you choose, the more often you can play without running into the same photos. Additionally, you can shuffle all the photos over and over again, so no two pots are ever the same.

Don’t think about it for too long. Open your favorite photo app and spontaneously select the photos that make you happy.

A handy starting point is to use existing albums, collections, or favorites. This often gives you a first nice selection quickly.

You can also search for people, locations, events, or time periods to find memories that you might otherwise overlook.

The most enjoyable Reelplays often contain a mix of big milestones and small everyday memories.

You don't need a perfect selection. It's the mix of special and everyday moments that makes the game fun. Choose the way that suits you:

  1. Let your phone do the work
Use Apple Photos or Google Photos to quickly find photos based on people, places, or moments. Read how it works Apple Photos or Google Photos.
  2. Choose your own photos
Start with your favorites or existing albums and choose photos from different years. Perfection isn’t necessary – unexpected photos actually make it fun.
  3. Invite others
Let family or friends add their own photos. This way you can create a surprising and personal selection together.

Tip: First, put your chosen photos into one album. Then you can easily upload them to Reelplay.

Unfortunately, Apple does not allow you to upload photos directly from a shared album to Reelplay.

Do you still want to use these photos? Select them in the shared album and add them to a new, unshared album. From that album, you can then simply upload them to Reelplay.

Yes. Almost all smartphones, tablets and computers show when a photo was taken.

Open the photo and swipe up or tap the information icon (ⓘ) to view the date.

Android
Open the photo in your gallery app and choose Information, Details or Properties.

Windows PC

Reelplay prefers the date on which the photo was actually taken (often referred to as the ‘Date Taken’, ‘Date created’ or ‘Recording date’).

If this information is missing, we use as an alternative the date on which the file was created or modified. This can happen, for example, with photos that have been edited, shared via WhatsApp, or re-saved. In that case, the date displayed does not always correspond to the moment the photo was actually taken.

Are you unsure about the date? No problem. You can always check the date during the creation of your game and adjust it if necessary before placing your order.

During the creation of your game, the software checks the quality of your photos.
